About East Nasty. Running. Community.
East Nasty is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization born out of a grass roots group of runners. A lot of East Nasty Runners live in East Nashville, and the rest wish they lived in East Nashville. East Nasty runners love their neighborhood. They exist to make East Nashville a great place to live and run, and to make running accessible to everyone in our community. The main organized run is held every Wednesday night – year round, rain or shine, hot or cold: Wednesday Runs
East Nasty has a free 1/2 Marathon Training program with organized runs on Sunday mornings and Thursday nights from January through April: 2012 1/2 Marathon Training. They also offer a free Couch-to-5k training program in the Summer. Visit East Nasty for training schedule updates and the “East Nasty of the Week” spotlight.
Most importantly, East Nasty loves their neighborhood and they strive to be involved in making it a great place to live and run. East Nasty and our runners support the KIPP academy track team, Eastcan.org, local races, Girls On The Run, and of course our local businesses.
SHOE DRIVE ON RACE DAY
We are having a running shoe drive on race day for donation to local schools and kids in need. The shoes can be new or used with a few more miles in them. Run and leave your shoes behind for someone who needs them or bring an extra pair to donate. East Nasty Runners will deliver them to people in our community who are in need.
ABOUT NASHVILLE RUNNING COMPANY
Nashville Running Company was born out of the love of running and the East Nashville area. Owners Lee and Angela Wilson moved to Nashville in 2008, and in looking for a local running group, Lee joined the East Nasties. This all-inclusive group of dedicated runners reminded Lee of his passion for running and the devotion he garnered for it when growing up in St. Helens, OR. It became a great source of both love and challenge for him as he went on to run at the University of Oregon. Nashville reminded him of Portland, OR in many ways, and he realized that it was the perfect city to open a place that Nashville runners could call home. The concept of a community-focused running store was then created.
NRC’s goal is not only to provide shoes and running gear but to provide a place where runners and walkers can learn, gather, and grow in the pursuit of healthy living. NRC wants to be a positive influence in the Nashville community where all feel welcome – from the elite runner to the first time participant. We truly feel running is something everyone can do at any age and at any point to achieve a fitness objective. It clears the mind, strengthens the heart, and renews the soul. We will provide athletic shoes, apparel and gear to make the journey more enjoyable!
